The retirement mecca
Florida is well known as a retirement mecca and the facts have it too - 3 million of Florida’s 18.7 million residents are seniors, the densest concentration of elderly folk in the United States. The tropical climate, low cost of living, low taxes and affordable home ownership has driven many to migrate and settle in the city.
The state also has strong tourism numbers and the Destin area is particularly well known for its white beaches and emerald waters. This is also now a popular destination for beach weddings with several thousand being married on its sugar beach every year. And those thinking of taking a vacation or having a wedding would like to check out Destin rentals which specializes in waterfront luxury condos.
In fact, many seniors who have moved there started out with a vacation. But because they have enjoyed the glorious sunsets, the beaches and views of Destin Harbor and East Pass so much, they did not want to leave and took up permanent residence eventually. It’s no wonder that the state has now the highest number of elderly folks!

HP uses recycled plastic in ink cartridges
I just read this article from Information Week that in an effort to reduce the environmental impact HP has on the planet, the company has developed a process that uses recycled plastic to make cartridges for ink-jet printers and plans to use twice as much recycled plastic in cartridges this year.
This is definitely a positive move as the company used more than 5 million pounds of old plastic last year in piloting the process that produced more than 200 million ink cartridges.
According to company executives, the computer maker’s recycling process makes it possible to combine multiple sources and grades of old plastic, whether it’s from common water bottles or old HP inkjet cartridges. Since first testing the process, HP has recycled enough plastic to fill more than 200 tractor-trailers.
From what I’ve read, recycling electronics and parts is no mean feat as a lot of work is needed in the entire process. Hence, I really salute HP for going the miles to become more environmentally friendly.
